As part of our work, we’ve conducted a detailed thesis exploring new birding routes from San Salvador village to the high Andean lakes and native communities such as Occoruro, Siuza, Parpacalle, Tiraqocha, Mamacocha, and Rumichaca. These lesser-known spots in the Sacred Valley of the Incas are home to rare and fascinating species that few visitors ever encounter.

One of our long-term goals is to establish local birding clubs across Southeastern Peru. We actively encourage birdwatching in habitats shared with native communities, including forests of Polylepis incana and Polylepis racemosa, which are crucial for the survival of many Andean bird species found in Peru, Bolivia, Ecuador, and Colombia.

Peru offers endless birding possibilities—and we’re here to make them accessible to you. Whether you have just a few days or more, you’ll have the chance to see an incredible range of wildlife. Between Cusco and Machu Picchu, for example, you can spot ducks, gulls, geese, flycatchers, ground-tyrants, finches, and members of the Furnariidae family such as:

• Rusty-fronted Canastero (Asthenes ottonis)
• Creamy-crested Spinetail (Cranioleuca albicapilla)
• Streak-fronted Thornbird (Phacellodomus striaticeps)
• Miners, parakeets, tapaculos, hummingbirds, and more.

The famous Manu Road is another of our favorite birding routes—home to diverse habitats, rich biodiversity, and mixed flocks in lush cloud forests. Here, you’ll find well-equipped lodges offering excellent service and local cuisine to complete your experience.

We also love guiding in Machu Picchu and Abra Malaga—especially in protected areas like Thastayoq, where threatened Polylepis forests shelter rare species like:

• White-browed Tit-spinetail (Leptasthenura xenothorax) – endemic to Peru
• Royal Cinclodes (Cinclodes aricomae) – critically endangered
• Plus antpittas, colorful hummingbirds, and more.
