Nature Trip Endemic Peru   “…Everything was fine and I had a wonderful day. The food was all I needed. I had the chance to have two guides”

Brisson Jacques

“We LOVED our tour with David and Ceero! David was very knowledgeable of the birds in all locations and we felt quite comfortable with our driver, Ceero. The breakfast, snacks, and lunch provided were delicious and the locations we went to were awesome. We had a chance to learn about other wildlife (wild guinea pigs!) and interact with local Peruvians on our tour through the mountains. This trip was not just a great bird tour, but a chance to see a different way of life and experience the Andes”

Amanda Shafer

"David, our guide, was excellent, and his expertise shows as we saw 54 bird species!!  Breakfast and lunch were tasty and kept us very happy throughout the day!  I would not hesitate to recommend Endemic Peru to my friends when traveling to Peru!  Thank you so much for everything!  I cannot tell you how happy we were!  :)"

Birding in Cuzco One full day

From 5:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Birding Andes - PeruAn exceptional birding spot close to Cusco which concentrates more than sixty resident species of birds; around twenty five migratory bird species and twenty occasional species.

Huacarpay lake is located about 45 minutes South Eastern of the city of Cusco with specific spots for endemic bird species to Peru such as Bearded Mountaineer (Oreonynpha nobilis) and Rusty fronted Canastero (Asthenes ottonis), perfect location points for birdwatching in only one day.

Our Full Day Program

  • Breackfast with hot drinks

Aves de Peru - Birds of Peru

We pick you up at 5:00 am, then we go to Huacarpay Lake, we should be there around 6:00 am. Once we get there, we start to see as many as possible birds of Cuzco – Peru such as Ducks, Teals, Herons, Grebes, Yellowlegs, lapwings, etc. Then we start to see the Flycatchers, ovenbirds, Hummingbirds, Tanagers, Hawks and some others, we have a nice breakfast around this RAMSAR SITE with lots of birds.

  • Box lunch, snacks and mineral water allways on our trips

The next hours we will pass throght some specific points  in order to see some endemic birds species of Peru, you decide which bird species you want to focus on.

We love showing you some bird species which are more restricted to see than others, any way all our time will be focused basically on species that you really would like to see. Our local guides know where to find those, which makes we to save time and enjoy the spectacular landscapes at the same time.

Bearded mountaineer in Cuzco - PeruSan Salvador (3900 – 4200 m.a.s.l.) is located on the way to Sacred Valley of the Incas, of course higher than Cusco. This town is the best place for growing Kiwicha (Amaranthus caudatus) a very nutritive cereal that is used to make some kinds of dishes in Peruvian gastronomy.

The most attractive place for us will be the high Andean Lakes that harbors some bird species which is no possible to fine around Huacarpay Lake such as the Giant Coot (Fulica gigantea), Crested Duck (Lophonetta specularioides), Silvery Grebe (Podiceps occipitalis), White Capped Dipper (Cinclus leucocephalus), Shining Sunbeam (Agraeactis cupripennis), Chesnut Breasted Mountain-Finch (Poospiza caesar) and some others.
